The Yamaha CLP635 is the second model in the quite brilliant Clavinova 600 series of digital pianos. Enjoy the experience of having the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos at your fingertips. In addition you can have some fun by playing along with some rhythms.
When choosing a digital piano, the first thing you consider is the quality of the piano sound. By recording the sounds from the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos, the CLP635 grand piano sound becomes reality. This is achieved by selecting a single piano for each sample, and then allowing the master piano technician to use his skills and tune it to the finest possible standard. The sounds are then recorded in meticulous detail, resulting in an amazing piano tone.
The CLP635 also benefits from VRM physical modeling—the distinctive reverberation generated by the entire body of a concert grand piano.
In a grand piano, sound resonates throughout the body of the instrument. This then produces a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. This phenomena reproduced perfectly in the Clavinova through enhanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM). The original VRM calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard, from one instant to the next, and timing and depth of damper pedals pressed. The enhanced VRM now also calculates aliquot resonance in the upper octaves, and the full resonance of the soundboard, rim, and frame. This technology allows for vivid, bright, richly-varied expression that reflects the limitless number of factors inherent in piano performance.
The Yamaha CLP635 Clavinova has an incredibly realistic keyboard feel that recreates the sensation of playing an acoustic instrument. Yamaha achieve this by using a similar hammer mechanism (with no springs) as that found in a grand piano. This mechanism is called the GH3X keyboard action and does accurately reproduce the touch of an acoustic instrument. It also features a three-sensor configuration. This accurately senses and interprets the behaviour of the pianist, to create a response and feel very much like that of a grand piano.
Furthermore the CLP635 reproduces the gentle, tactile surface of the ivory keyboards once used in only the finest pianos. It features highly-absorbent material that prevents fingers from slipping even after hours of performing, while retaining the ideal texture and feel.
With the Rosewood satin finish to the cabinet and the brass detailing to the pedals, you really can’t help but feel you are in front of a beautiful instrument. Furthermore the book holders fitted to the music desk really help to keep you on the right page. Not only that, Yamaha have cleverly positioned the control panel to the left hand side of the instrument. This really does give you the impression you are in front of a real piano.
