The BM400 is based upon the recently discovered Barnes & Mullins 'Abbott' mandolin from the early 20th century. Due to the round sound hole and in addition the flat top and flat back design, you can describe the BM400 as a folk instrument. Furthermore the overhanging 24-fret rosewood fingerboard completes the setup of a lovely solid mandolin. Flat backed mandolins are commonly used in Irish, British and Brazilian folk music. If you fancy some bluegrass playing it will accommodate here too. With flamed maple back and sides and a solid spruce top it is also a fine looking instrument to own.
What we say about the BM400
This is a solid mandolin. It has a great sound, which is both resonant and crisp.
